GDC Drang at Narla, located in the rural area of the district Mandi (HP), got the gift of an NCC unit in the New Year (i.e. 1st January 2021). It took almost a year to materialize this work. After completing all the formalities, the battalion provided an opportunity to the college students located in rural areas to bring them into the mainstream for service to the country. This college comes under the border coastal area and has a total allotment of 50.

History of NCC

The National Cadet Corps is a tri-service organization comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force to make the youth disciplined and patriotic citizens. The origin of NCC was first known as “University Corps” and then as “University Training Corps” (UTC). With the recommendation of a committee headed by Pandit HridaynathKunzruthe NCC Act was adopted by the Governor General on 15 July 1948 and with this, the NCC came into existence. In the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan, NCC cadets were in the second line of defence to deliver ammunition and weapons to the battle site and act as patrols to capture paratroopers of the enemy forces. The NCC acquired an inter-service image after the addition of the Air Wing in 1950 and the Naval Wing in 1952.
